There are a lot of different things that can cause neck pain, also body pain as well. However, the main reason that you can have significant body pain is from bad posture. There are things you can do to correct posture, but it is something that will take time and will not be done overnight. Setting yourself up to correct and then prevent bodily pain from posture is the goal.  Just remember this: if you have poor posture, neck pain is sure to follow.

There are a few different reasons that can cause neck pain but also just as many to correct them:

Craning your neck forward makes your neck have to hold the weight of the head up. Keeping good posture will evenly distribute the weight to your whole body making looking at something easier to do.

Maintaining an upright position is also key to keeping good posture. Hunching your shoulders will apply to much tension between your shoulders and in your neck and will cause a severe amount of neck pain.

One of the biggest causes to severe neck pain is someone who constantly has to stare at something that isn’t eye level. What happens is that strain gets put on the neck by tilting your head up or down for a period time, tightening up the muscles giving you some serious pain.

Couch or reader’s neck happens when you rest your head up on the arms of the couch or when you read on your side and your head is propped by your arms.  It might not hurt at first, but after a few minutes it can be really painful.  Listen to that pain!  It’s telling you “Please stop!”

If you look down at your feet all the time (i.e., “timid head”), you will overstress the muscles on the back of you neck, causing lots of pain.

Holding your chin too high is also a form of bad posture straining the neck muscles. This habit causes neck pain because the muscles on the front of your neck are stretched too much.  It is much better to hold the head straight forward.

Now that you have an idea of some of the ways that posture can cause neck pain, lets talk about a few of the remedies that are out there that can help you prevent them.

One of the first things you should do when trying to remedy neck pain is to try and workout the muscles in the neck making them stronger and making them more flexible. You have to be careful when trying to workout the muscles in your neck as they are sensitive and can easily cause more pain, if you do not do the exercises the right way.

If you are not very enthused about taking pills or rubbing ointments on to your skin because of the possible side effects that come with them, then there are other natural methods that you do as well.
