Sciatica is an irritation of a lumbar nerve root that can result in pain, weakness, numbness, or tingling which can travel from the back all the way through the buttock area through the lower extremity to the feet. The nerve compression is also referred to as lumbar radiculopathy. It can affect one’s ability to concentrate, function, sleep, socialize, and work.
